Survival is a fundamental epidemiological indicator in monitoring the impact of cancer in any population. REDECAN carries out studies to quantify the survival of cancer patients by sex, age and tumor type and their evolution over time.
In order to obtain accurate results that are not affected by random variations, a sufficiently extensive casuistry is needed, so that survival studies usually include cases of supra-annual periods, usually five years. For this reason, survival studies require a longer period of observation and collection of cases.
