The basic objective of a Population Cancer Registry is to know the number of new cancer cases diagnosed in a defined period of time and residents in the geographic area covered by the Registry. That is, to determine the incidence of cancer, which is usually expressed per year and per 100,000 inhabitants.
Their data can be useful for disease control in various areas: epidemiological research, primary and secondary prevention, health planning, and patient care.
