REDECAN

Spanish Network of Cancer Registries

REDECAN is the cooperative body of the population-based cancer registries of Albacete, Asturias, Canarias, Castellón, Castilla y León, Cuenca, Ciudad Real, Euskadi, Girona, Granada, La Rioja, Mallorca, Murcia, Navarra and Tarragona, the population-based registry of childhood tumours of the Valencian Community, the population-based registry of cancer in childhood and adolescence of the Madrid Community and the multi-hospital Spanish Registry of Childhood Tumours (RETI).

REDECAN was established at the end of 2010 with the aim of obtaining and providing the health authorities and the scientific community with the results on incidence, survival and prevalence of cancer in Spain. For this, these registries created a joint database that ensures the quality of the data and the maximum possible updating of the same. REDECAN is therefore one of the main elements of the cancer information system in Spain.
